ATLA is a contemporary Los Angeles and Tokyo rooted art gallery focused on the reverence of craft.
With a multicultural emphasis on fusing ceramics and art from the East with the West, ATLA’s exhibitions are intended to create conversations about intersectionality, intention, history, heritage, politics, and identity through craftsmanship and artistry.
Named in homage to the japanese word atara, which loosely translates to the sorrow experienced when a thing of beauty is no longer celebrated, ATLA is focused on celebrating endurance and advocating against disposable work and disposable experiences in a fast-changing, fast-consuming world. ATLA is physically based in Los Angeles and culturally accessible worldwide, offering its mission through nomadic curation, immersive installations, experimental publishing projects, and art advisory.
